Fuck your P.A.
So Bongripper played the main stage at Otto's in DeKalb last night.
We showed up an hour and half prior to the show time (first band there) and do to awesome reasons we don't end up setting up till close to 8:40
So we get everything about set up the sound dude is micing up the drums and asks when we are gonna start. I ask him when are we supposed to start, to which he replies 10 minutes ago, and we need you off by 9:40
So we are not on good terms at this point.
Dude checks the drums and I turn my bass amp on. I am at the volume I play alone in my house at when I hear "dude you gotta turn that down, you are way too loud"
I look puzzled and ask the sound guy if I am too loud in the PA, to which he replies "you aren't even in the PA yet)
I tell the guy that I don't see a problem and proceed to turn my amp up to gigging volume (from 1 1/2 to about 5)
He tells me I am too loud for the room to which I respond. "That's kind of the point"
Then he turns to Nick. And tells him that he needs to turn down to run through the PA to which Nick expertly replies "Fuck your PA"
Dude says "fine have a nice day and walks off"
We play with just the drums mic'd
and I got about 10 compliments about how good we sounded.
Dennis hears dude storm off and say "I'm never fucking working with that band again"
So the Moral of the story is. Dude didn't need to do shit, so he had no reason to complain, we made his job really easy, we probably won't be asked back to Otto's.
We Win.
