dear livejournal, sorry I have neglected you recently for sun in the funshine, but it has been a hectic month.

i have got back the majority of my university marks now. i got a 63 for my dissertation, which is quite good but i feel i could have done better. however, a 73 for my screenwriting cheered me up as it is my joint highest mark ever. so i'm pretty much certain for a 2:1 which means masters is possible. hopefully i will have a house to live in next year, as we now need to find two housemates after more of james' ineptness and nicola's immaturity.

since there has been crazy golf, bbqs and lots of nights out which have left me with about £20 to my name until i (hopefully) get my deposit back. these past few weeks have been great fun but the last week has been incredible. on monday evening lauren made the near 500 mile trip from glasgow overnight to portsmouth and arrived at around 11am on tuesday. i met her at fratton station and within minutes we were chatting like it was 5 years ago. after buying toothbrushes and making pancakes we went to the common with jacqui and ben before a lovely relaxed evening in the garden. wednesday, we left the south for the big city for my first 21st present. jacqui, sarah, lauren & i met sarah's sister rachel in victoria station and had lunch/dinner in spoons before eventually finding cargo, the hidden venue cut into an old railway bridge. i have been to some venues in my time but this place was gorgeous. beautiful graffiti adorned the place inside and out, with table candles lighting the arches. horizontal doors slid apart to reveal the performance area which looked like it could hold about 150 people at the most. a little raving was done to the bays and chase & status but it really began when zane lowe arrived. before his set in the tiny dj alcove we managed to have a chat and get a picture with him, and he seemed a truly nice man. his set was fantastic, old school hippity hop, remixes and crowdpleasers meant we didn't stop moving until a good two hours later, by which time pendulum had finished their set and we were all ridiculously sweaty. after a mammoth bus trip we finally made it back to the coughtries in bromley for about 3am. seven hours later we were back in central london for our coach home and spent the afternoon lazing about before going out again to waster, where they played two songs that i had never heard there before, both with great significance to lauren and i. friday night was spectacular, a few drinks at the dog before a 5am playfair bbq and trouserless o'clock while watching wayne's world until 7am. lauren decided she liked portsmouth so much she pushed her coach back to stay another day. we spent saturday at gunwharf before a quick bbq a jess'. at half 8 we walked lauren to fratton station in the gorgeous summer rain. it was tough to say goodbye after such an amazing week, cramming three years into the space of five days, but it made us determined to see each other much more often, despite the britain sized gap. i am going to glasgow in two weeks and can't wait. a lot of things touched me about this week, and showed me how much more important it is to revel in those around you who you love and respect than focus on the ones that bring you down.

for the first time in a long while i have sat by myself this evening, and it has made me think about everything i miss and am going to miss. i miss home and my parents and can't wait to sit at the beach hut with jenny and oscar and sam and everyone, but i am dreading leaving playfair. i could cope with leaving portsmouth if i had to, but this home means so much. i think thats why it hurt quite a bit when sarah and beth chose against living with me next year in hudson. but then again i feel next year will rekindle my affection for this city. a new house, a new course, a job and carrying on new friendships i am already grateful for. this second i feel content and very happy, despite trying to come to terms with the fact i have three more days of living here.

anyway, i think i am going to get in bed with a cup of tea and a kit kat and think about how badly written this entry is.
