These two, along with the last character I posted, are going to comprise the main group in the story.
Name: Rain McCuill
Role: Protagonist
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Height: 5’5”
Occupation: Assistant Shopkeeper
Appearance:
Rain has a heart-shaped face, framed by the black hair she keeps at mid-back length; usually kept in a pony-tail. Her green eyes and rounded nose are complimented by the smattering of freckles spread across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Built moderately slim, Rain’s body is not particularly noteworthy, though lifting and moving some of the heavier merchandise in Terence’s shop has given her fair muscle-tone in her arms.
Personality:
Rain is an intensely loyal friend, with a hint of maternal protectiveness. She tends to be rather stoic, and does the job in front of her with as little complaint as possible. This does not mean, however, that she is quiet in the face of stupidity; Rain has a low tolerance for perceived stupidity and ignorance. A respect for laws and rules is fairly deeply-rooted in her personality, and those that ignore them tend to get under her skin. Rain doesn’t get angry easily, and when she does, she is not very prone to shouting - more likely is a cold tongue-lashing. Rain is unafraid of taking action, but will wait to do so until it becomes apparent that said action is the best way to resolve the situation.
Basic History:
Rain’s life has been fairly uneventful thus far. She was raised by her mother and father, and has an older brother in the Royal Guard. At the age of thirteen, she became apprenticed to Terence as an assistant.
Special Skills:
Rain has a basic competency at magic, and is capable of sensing directions via the earth, as well as mending minor breaks and cracks in ceramic or stone items.
Name: Arthur Greine
Role: Protagonist
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Height: 6’1”
Occupation: Mercenary/Jack-of-all-trades
Appearance:
In a word, scruffy. His face is rather hard and angular, and generally covered in stubble. Arthur keeps his hair short, two to three inches at most; it is a dark brown color, bordering on black. Arthur’s eyes are a dark blue color, and he generally tries to keep them free from hair. Exomorphic and toned in form, his body speaks of a life of fighting and brawling. Furthering the appearance of don’t-screw-with-me-ness is a small, crescent-shaped scar on his left cheek.
Personality:
To put it briefly, a self-serving bastard. Extroverted and loudmouthed, Arthur has a tendency to get himself into trouble on a regular basis; he only regrets this when he can’t talk, fight, or otherwise trick his way out of the consequences. One of nature’s barroom brawlers, Arthur’s first instinct in most situations is to throw a punch, or just do whatever seems right; albeit, his own personal definition of “right” tends to coincide with whatever seems like the most fun. Contrasting with this tendency to live by his whims, Arthur has a rather strong, if simplistic, sense of justice. This sense of justice is superseded by his drive to survive in extreme situations, but it generally serves as a basic sort of moral compass - a compass that rarely points due north, and that he occasionally ignores, but a compass nonetheless. Completely frank, Arthur is very likely to give a completely honest opinion of whoever he’s talking to, regardless of consequences. Finally, Arthur is highly extroverted, and is definitely a party animal. Of the drunken debauchery kind. He also has an intense fear of magic, at least when it is being used against him.
Basic History:
Arthur was born to and spent most of his childhood with a very poor family, which helped shape some of his more specialized views of justice and injustice. At thirteen, he attempted to join the Royal Guard, because he had observed that it was generally better to be in a position of authority of power than not to be. He stayed for three years -enough to get a general grasp of fighting tactics and the laws of the country- before quitting at the increasingly-apparent corruption in the organization. The time since then has been spent as a sort of jack-of-all-trades, a con-man, and a wandering thug. Arthur makes his way by taking any job he can, even honest ones. Keeping those jobs has been another matter entirely.
Special Skills:
Arthur’s skills include brawling, making an ass of himself, and being obscenely blunt. He also has a pair of short-swords that he has a very basic competency with - he knows that the pointy ends go into the other guy.
I'm more worried about these two slipping into Sue-ishness than Terence, but I don't think there's anything terribley glaring that I missed. Reactions, anyone?
