Kat's post reminded me about our Farmers' Market. I'd never really payed much attention to them before moving to North Carolina. We have three in our area, but last year Durham built a permanent venue, and it has become our favorite:
This is about one quarter of the market. It has four sides to make a square, because the two long legs they built didn't provide enough space. I'm so excited to see how popular it is; it is usually so crowded you can barely walk through it starting around 9 AM. It's evolved in many ways as well: Originally you had to be early to buy eggs and they were $4.50 a dozen, now you can reliably get jumbo eggs for $4.00 a dozen and for $3.50 if you're early enough. Lamb, chicken, pork, beef and buffalo are also available every week.
