Characters: AU!James Tiberius Kirk [jtiberiusk] and OTA
Where: Debriefing room
Summary: The au Kirk arrives and is none too happy
Warnings: Um... none though AU!Kirk does have a dirty mouth on occasion

It had been a little touch-and-go there for awhile but the board had finally ruled in his favor. Unsurprisingly, Spock had dropped his charges against Kirk. Without Spock the board didn't have a reason to keep him grounded any longer. They'd even managed to overlook the fact that he'd been a stow away on board the Enterprise and that Bones had helped to sneak him onto the ship. They'd even managed to wave all of the regulations which would keep him from the position of Captain aboard the ship. Two days ago James Tiberius Kirk had been in his final year as a cadet and facing expulsion from the Academy, now he was the Captain of the Starship Enterprise and the youngest ever at 25. It was amazing what Starfleet was willing to just hand people after they managed to save the world and showed themselves capable of Captaining a ship. Bones said he was a natural... even Spock had seemed slightly impressed.

Slipping on his gold shirt, Kirk took one last look at the dorm room which had been his home for so long and sighed. He was going to miss this place but he knew where he belonged now. Besides... everything had changed. Nero had killed a good majority of his graduating class and instructors. He'd lost friends, enemies, girl friends, and instructors. It was a good thing he still had Bones. There was no time to stand around reliving the past. His ship was waiting for him. Turning on his heel he began to march himself towards his ship but... suddenly something happened. There was an odd pull and then everything went black. It only lasted for a moment before...

"Phase complete... Report for debriefing."

Kirk frowned as he watched the pod-like thing he was in open up revealing a rather empty room. Where was he? "Bones?" Jim called as he pulled himself up out of the pod and looked around. He didn't recognize this. It wasn't his ship and it didn't look anything like Romulan, Federation, or Klingon technology so... what was going on? Was he dreaming? Spotting the lights on the floor, Kirk followed them to another room with a holograph and frowned. It was only a little less confusing now... but only a little.

"Phase initiated"

Again the hologram started moving, lighting up some area of the ring before bombarding him with pictures. A slightly run down farm house, fields of dirst and the remnants of crops... Kirk's eyes widened just a little. That was Iowa. The Kirk family farm, home just like he remembered it. Just as he'd never wanted to see it again. Home where his mother and his older brother had abandoned him and left him in the care of Frank. Home where he'd watched helplessly as his step father sold off his father's possesions ensuring that the boy who never had any memories of his real father also didn't have anything to hold onto. He hated that place. When he left it the first time he'd vowed to never return. Now it seemed to be the only familiar thing he had. No San Francisco, no ship, no Spock, and most importably no Bones. What the hell was he going to do?
