Fruitless

Nothing. No trace of Komand'r. She had her flaws, true, but she had also displayed the strength to unite our people in her final days as queen (if they were indeed her final days). Admiral Ullas has searched the systems around our former homeworld, where she was last seen, but has found nothing to tell us whether she escaped destruction or died with New Tamaran. All he has brought back are scraps and trinkets, and once the records from a Psion science station. As if we needed to be reminded of the atrocities they perpetrated on our people. Still, I suppose they may serve some educational purpose some day, for this younger generation to whom the Citadel War is ancient history and the Psions almost mythic monsters used to frighten small children into good behavior.

No sign of Ryand'r, or of those Omega Men he had joined in his younger days. Just as well. He was the classic youngest child, never very interested in his duties as prince. Still, he would have been acceptable.

That leaves Koriand'r. She is the favorite of the people now, anyway. Those who believe in this prophecy about a child of the House of And'r assert that the offworlder spoke to Koriand'r, naming her the vessel of this child. It is true Koriand'r spent much of her time offworld. And, like her sister and brother, she had been the subject of Psion experimentation.

This prophecy may have very little to do with X'hal ... if Koriand'r were to have a child, would it inherit her gift of starbolts? And more besides--we know that she was able to withstand space unprotected, and could bear very high temperatures that could melt the flesh from the bones of an ordinary Tamaranian.

Perhaps this prophecy is less of an inconvenience than we thought.

Perhaps ... it is time for Koriand'r to return home.
