So, this weekend turned out to be the slowest weekend in quite some time. It started off with the leading of my weekend for the Questers program in our department, which included lecturing, demonstrating, and organizing an experiment for a group of high school students. While the concept of the program is quite interesting, the students they actually draw for these programs seem less than interested in what's going on, which takes away much of the fulfilling nature of a well-planned event. We only managed one unfortunate grusome mousey death, and no people injuries, which may be a new low for such a complex experiment as this in some many years.
Much of the rest of my weekend was spent reading the first 100 pages in the 2000-page journey that will likely be my cover-to-cover reading of Wall & Melzack's Textbook of Pain. Not exactly the greatest page turner I've encountered, but hopefully I'll be a pretty keen authority if I can retain even 10% of what I read. I also spent some breaks in between watching "The Departed" and "Running with Scissors". Both were severely messed up, and I'm convinced Martin Scorsese has a "Hamlet complex". Exciting weekend huh? Right now I am finishing up my Sunday errands, among which included rewashing and lint rolling all my bedding, as my ultra-comfy warm new edition to the group was apparently a nasty shedder...little grey fuzzies everywhere. I still can't get all of them, but hopefully after all that I won't roll out of bed looking like I slept the night in a pile of cotton balls. The OCD in me couldn't stand it, so now we're on to new warm and fuzzy blanket number two. 0:-)
