So despite saying it would take about three weeks, the UPS managed to get it to me in three days. Unfortunately, my schedule did not allow me to get that package for a few days, but this wonderful package contained the ultimate in ego-strokers for someone of my profession:
If you cannot see it, link is here. If it says no permission, just hit enter on the address again...stupid picters. 0:) A brand new look for a brand new project. I am currently getting to study the effects of THC ("the herb" for the rest of you) and withdrawal. And while much of it is simple injections and observations, you get to learn a lot about animal behavior staring at them for hours on end. Most noticeably is how animals in withdrawal from opioids like to jump around and squeak a lot. And THC, you ask? What I'm counting is various body tremors as they are most common and applicable to human withdrawal. However, it is hard not to notice the incredible increase in fellating these guys do. I guess that's one way to ease the pain. Can't wait to see if they ever try that study in human trials. Volunteers? ;-)
It's not all serious business. Sometimes, I'll just put a few in a observation tank for a while just to see what normal behavior might look like. My favorite so far is #24, who likes to take his droppings, lick them, and then stick them to the walls in interesting designs. A veritable rodent Martha Stewart, and an absolutely hilarious sight. As it is, one of my fellow colleagues is decided to make a young subject his first house pet, which makes me think I may soon do the same once I think I have the time and resources for it. Anyways, I got one free day this week without lab (most just call it Sunday), and I get to spend it studying for a test this week...cause you I how I roll. :-P
Later all. And I miss my cutie. :-(
