Home now from the best my first the best con ever. Honestly, I have never been so impressed by a group of people -- as
cesperanza said, we are supersmart. Fandom is shiny.
Some of the standout vids for me were Big Red Boat (I know, it's old, but I'd never seen it), Torchwood: Undying, Scarlet Ribbons, My Rights Versus Yours, Whatever It Takes, both Handlebars vids (gotta see Iron Man!), Climbing up the Walls, Gloria, A Thousand Suns, and How Much Is That Geisha in the Window. And I'm not linking to them because I'm very tired and very lazy; links are up on
vividconsomewhere.
Other things I learned on my summer vacation:
- That I really, really need to get hooked up with some local fans, or start going to cons a couple times a year, or something. At a ripe old age, I have found my tribe.
- That this symbol \o/ is the Paul Gross arms, which for some reason completely delights me. Paul, honey, we love you, but ... um. Not so much with the rock star.
- That vids are joy. (Cue the spring peepers of joy.)
- That I am neither too old nor too fat to shake a modest groove thang on occasion.
- That I need to be more sparkly.
- That when camping, I should pay attention to the large structure that looks like a sewage treatment plant of some kind. And perhaps not camp next to it. I'm just sayin'.
- That if I leave my house for a week, the Cleaning Fairies in the form of my lovely parents may come and mop the kitchen floor.
