Possibly not the best idea I've ever had...
So today was a Bridal Expo in Woodland Hills. My Fiance had planned to go a while ago, and I told her I'd tag along. We get there and wander around. We have most everything done except the photographer, and even though we found one we like, he may be out of the country at that time. Interestingly, we found another photographer we liked. She has some similar packages that are quite a bit less expensive.
So we move over to the area where the fashion show is going to be and we decide that after the show we'll go back and make an appointment. While we're sitting they're getting ready to do the door prizes. This is the main reason we've stuck around. Before that though, the 2nd most annoying DJ I've ever seen wants 4 grooms-to-be to come up onto the runway... I'm getting a bad feeling. Sure enough once we're up there, in front of a large number of giggling women, he goes on about how we can win prizes and big bucks. Turns out all we have to do is win this contest. A "Shake Your Booty" contest...
I almost walked off. There was no way I was going to shake my fat butt on stage in front of strangers. And yet, ahhh fuck it, if you're going to embarrass yourself you might as well give it all you've got. The other guys up there are very reluctant so when the music starts I start dancing down the runway to the tune of "Shake Your Booty". It was all I could do to ignore the pounding of my heart. Ilene was laughing so hard she was crying. Women were laughing and shouting. I seemed to be doing okay. The other three guys went and two of them got eliminated. The other guy and I had to do a dance off... Once more into the breach, and amazingly I won. Ironically, the first prize was a free engagement photo session with 8x10 from the photographer Ilene and I were going back to.
Only one problem, it turns out they were videotaping before the fashion show and they usually put their videos on you-tube. Coming soon to an internet near you...
