It's difficult now for same sex relationships to survive because of the prejudice that still exists. In earlier times it was most probably a matter of life and death to have this kind of relationship. Imaging how badly Jack would have been beaten had Ennis's father found out about them. It's not a pleasant thought.

I'm enjoying your story, and I'm looking forward to your next update. :D

You know, I was fascinated by the time and place setting of BBR first because I saw a B&W pics of Jake G. dressed as a servant and second because the firl that made me love fitions was The remains of the day....
I have to thanks my Beta Sam so much because she's also a help in avoiding narrative traps!
We'll see what happens next, I must apologize again because I'm so busy I need to find time for refining next ch.

Awwww...so now Ennis is having to get married....his father is horrible, but I do feel quite sorry for Alma. But not sorry enough to let her come between Ennis and Jack...it will be interesting to see what happens next.
