2013 was a pretty landmark year for me. It was the worst year for art production, and yet the most productive for studio jobs for me.
We built a giant project for a studio project that didn't get bought. At least, not from us. The investors ended up taking the idea (and blueprints) to a different manufacturer and currently there are little cousins to our project being deployed across the States. I hula hooped at FWA and won an honourable mention in the Dance competition, my husband got his first new fullsuit, and we got to visit with all our favorite Florida friends!
I went to CES & NAB for work to learn about fancy electronics and fancy film equipment... Both turned out to be absolutely bonkers in terms of crowds and awesome stuff to be seen. We started work on some props for another web series produced by our business partners, and I helped (just a tiny bit) building a spinning Inception-esque set to throw some stunt actors around. We photobombed a film shoot with our furry costumes and got to meet one of the builders of a replica BTTF Delorean. Immediately after my husband and I went out to live in the woods and build wifi & cellular networks for our first network reality show. We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on the set with a bunch of reality contestants!
I got to go to SDCC for the first time, which was also bonkers. I built and welded more props for another reality show, which ended up being a huge headache but a learning experience! I got to celebrate my granny's 90th birthday in Canada, and was soo happy to have some real Tim Hortons again! My husband and I got our first new car together, and now we drive 100% electric all over Los Angeles which is super surreal. I drew some neat people some artwork at RF, and got to walk around downtown Seattle for the first time. And then... 2014!
It was a tiring roller coaster year but I think 2014 will be even better. Here's to more art, more costumes, more neat projects and fun times!
