Meh, I liked it better when it was Phantom of the Opera in 15 Minutes by Cleolinda Jones. Reviewers, myself included, have politely pointed out to the author that s/he should give credit to the original author but those reviews are being deleted ( Read more... )

Whoa. Is it just me, or are most of the parodies on that site rip-offs of Phantom in Fifteen Minutes?

Like we don't have more than enough material for original funny with the Gerik based fanfic, inventive misspellings of Raoul (why hello, Roule the Visconter of Change) ingenious planes, kidnapped ballerinas, Christines sold into slavery, a magic opera house with a dorm and a chapel in it, Erik's lair that he can rebuild using popsicle sticks and pencils after the mob trashes it, and a host of other fun tropes that make no sense at all. Every day, I find some new piece of crazy that I need to work into the revision of my fic. Every. Day.

My interpretation of the madness can be read here:

It's a first draft and I'm currently procrastinating about revising it. When I get back to work, I'll be adding in a couple blind ballerinas dancing into walls and such, a horde of singing beggars or prostitute lurking around the opera steps waiting for the phantom to discover and/or kidnap them and whatever other interesting things strike my fancy from the wonderful world of Gerik-based fic.

ETA And I really need to think about the snake on Raoul's ingenious plane because although the joke has been way overdone, the scene was actually inspired by opening scenes of the first Indiana Jones movie and so I kinda like having it there.
