I've been meaning to see this for a while, even though I am so dearly attached to the Colin Firth version. So, tonight I headed out, braving the still treacherous roads, to see it all by my lonesome self. Yes, I'm one of those that sometimes go to movie by themselves. I don't mind it too much. Anyways, I hate Keira Knightley. Let's just make that clear. I think she's boring and over rated and does something weird with her mouth when she speaks. So, it came as little surprise that I didn't like her in this movie. She just didn't make a believable Lizzy to me. And what was up with the bangs on her(and everyone, for that mattter?). As far as I know, they weren't really in fashion during that period. The other sisters were well done, especially Jane. Bingley was adorable and squishy, though a bit too goofy compared to how I read him in the book. Darcy was hot and believeable, thought I could have done with a bit more haughtiness on his part. Didn't like the first proposal scene(random meeting in the rain at pretty spot, WTF?), especially Keira's nasty yelling at Darcy the entire time. Second propasal scene was odd, too. In pajamas?! Double ewe tea eff. Although, my ovaries did quiver quite a bit when Darcy came walking out of the mist with the open puffy shirt and long jacket and his own soundtrack. I'd pay to see the movie again just for that moment. I don't think they really effectively handled WHY Lizzie comes to love Darcy. Eh...and the end scene? Perhaps the Brits are getting the better end of the deal by having it cut. It would have worked better, I think, had I liked Keira. But watching her make faces and babytalk with Darcy just didn't work for me. Overall, though, I liked it and would see it again. I think I would LOVE it if they had used another actress besides Keira.
