Did you feed your pet rat poison?

They found out why it was killing pets, and expanded the recall.

Basically, if you have "cuts and gravy" food, call the vet. Lucky thing I feed Aisha dry.

What's really freaky is the stuff is also used as a cancer drug.

KF, the latest I've read is that it's probably a good idea to bring them in for a vet check even if they have no ill effects. The acute cases have passed, but animals can have a chronic kidney problem which is harder for people to spot. Better safe then sorry, so they're now advising to check with your vet if your animals ate any of this food.

I was confused. At first I thought you were asking if I fed poison to my pet rat. Who in the world keeps a pet rat, thought I. Then I realized you were asking if I fed rat poison to my pet. Ohhhhhhh. Then I started to screw around and saw it could be Did I feed Poison, my pet rat (if you stretch it just a little).

All of which has nothing to do with anything.

Dry food is better for their teeth, anyway. And my mother actually cooks for her dogs, so no canned "cuts and gravy" for them, either. It's pretty scary how big this situation has become, though, isn't it?

what i love is what was said on the news yesterday, that wheat gluten is also used in PEOPLE FOOD so what are they going to say then if the bags got mixed up? oopsy?
whats disturbing is jsut about all he animal food comes from the same place. so really, what is the difference?
dry food really isn't that good for pets depending on the product, one of its main ingredient tends to be corn which is like junk food.

this is bullshit. of course there should be a crimminal invesigation as to how the poison got there. they did with the tylenol tampering.

Actually, no. Most vets recommend good quality dry food for cats. The good stuff doesn't have fillers, is better for their urinary tract and hard food is much better for cats' teeth. My vet doesn't recommend wet food at all if your cat is happy with dry.

actually, yes. vets at humane society of new york don't recommend store bought dry food like meow mix.

I don't know any vets who'll recommend grocery store crap like Meow Mix and DeliCat. But they do recommend pet store brands like Royal Canin, Iams, Hills, Nutro and Eukanuba dry foods. They are not at all like meow mix. Male cats often develop urinary tract problems from all the ash in meow mix and similar. This is not the case with the quality brands of dried food.

I got an email last night from PetSmart. Said their records indicated I'd bought something recalled. I called them this morning, and no dry foods, nor cat milk, nor any of the treats I bought were recalled, so the whole thing was just a mistake. Most of the food I've bought is Purina, and nothing they made got recalled.
