Holy Crap! It's still sinking in...

What's sinking in, you ask?  Well, I guess the fact that I am finally...

ENGAGED!!

I just can't believe it!  I seriously wasn't expecting any type of proposal for a while, and he just came out of left field yesterday with a ring and a sweet bunch of words.  He even got our dog involved, which was just too cute!  And it was totally his style of proposal: quiet and at home with a bunch of candles.  I always thought I would want a huge public proposal, but I realized that we really aren't public people, so I think he did it just right.  I'm just sooooo excited!!

We won't really start planning anything for a while.  Both our families are a little poor at the moment, and we have a few odds and ends that need to be tied up, but the fact that it's coming at all just thrills me to no end!  *squee!!*

I haven't told any of the gals at work yet.  Not sure what their reactions will be since they all kept telling me I don't want it.  Plus we are all a bit busy today.  Hmm...  maybe I'll just wait until someone spots my ring and then I'll let the news out.

Edit:  For those who have asked, here's how it happened:

Yesterday was our eighth anniversary, so I gave him that cross stitch fish I had been working on and he loved it!  Then I asked what I was getting and he said I couldn't have it until after dinner.  I thought that was kind of crummy because I really really wanted to know what it was, but I just said that was fine and pouted for a while.  Hee hee!  Then we got dressed up and went to P.F. Chang's for dinner (yum!).
When we got home, he told me I had to go sit in the bedroom while he got my present "set up."  So I sit and watch Food Network until he calls me downstairs.  I go down and the living room is full of candles!  Just about every one I had in the house was there, and it smelled exquisite with all the floral and ocean scents!
He yells from the kitchen that I should go sit in his chair.  I sit down and he sends Molly running in with a card tied to her collar.  He comes out behind her and takes the card and starts reading it to me.  It was just beautiful!  I'm amazed at how good he is with words!  Then he gets down on his knee and asks me to marry him!!  I didn't even hesitate, I just jumped on him and said yes!  *sigh*  It was just perfect!

And he was thrilled that (1) I said yes and (2) the candles didn't set off the smoke detector!  :)
