Asimov on Science Fiction by Isaac Asimov
A series of articles written by Asimov in the late 70s, mostly as editorials for Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, these were brough together because Asimov had never written a non-fiction book about science fiction. Interesting reading, IMO, but not for everybody. Still, recommended.
A Part for a Policeman by John Creasey
Roger West is trying to enjoy a rare evening out with his wife when he is paged to report to the office (this being 1970, they don't call his cel, or his pager, but rather flash a message on the movie screen). West being a homicide detective in London, England, this means someone has died. It turns out to be a major Irish movie star (in the English Cinema). Almost immediately the case turns complicated, as a fleeing suspect turns out to both be innocent and to be the father of a girl who had been living with the star. This brings in the issue of (then) illegal abortion, which leads them to a clinic, which leads back to the studio, which leads to . . . Creasey packs a lot of mystery into 157 pages.
