Speaking of lighthearted and entertaining, I bought S.L. Viehl's "Blade Dancer" soely on the strength of the opening line:

All I was trying to do when they caught me was bury my mother in an unmarked grave.

It's a fun book, although one should enjoy the ride, rather than thinking about the subtleties of the plot,
since that would just result in a headache. I'd definitely recommend it as light reading, though.
