But when you talk about distruction...

Be warned, I have yet another angry rant in store. I've been doing those a lot lately apparently. O_o This one was inspired by seeing Across the Universe. The civil rights movement/anti-war movement in the Sixties actually meant something...Why was that, you ask? Because that generation did something about what was going on.

A message and a rage to my generation:

We are drowning in our own apathy and self-created ignorance. We are a generation that has a world of knowledge at our finger tips and yet do nothing with it. We claim to be "oh so angry" about the world today and yet we do NOTHING. Our generation is one of unbridled and unconcentrated anger. People blame the media, tv shows, computer games, parents, etc, for how violent our generation is but that's bullshit. We are violent because all of our angry isn't being concentrated to the real source of pain and destruction so we turn it in on ourselves.
We live in a time that is still racist, sexist, biggoted, homophobic, and religiously prejudiced. All of these things need to be changed. We need to stand up in one voice and tell the world No. We need to let go of our own selfish motives and come together as one. We need to let go of our *hatred* and do something about the world. Let go of your apathy and ignorance, they will not save you forever. Another revolution needs to take place. Am I calling for war? No. I'm calling for a total revamping of what society claims to be truths. I'm calling for equality. I'm calling for another sixties, this time with technology and knowledge on our side. This time, uninhibited by drug abuse. This time we will not be the cause of our own demise. The eighties taught us how to be greedy and lust for our own self fulfillment. We will get no where in the world if we just look out for ourselves. We need to look at our fellow human beings and embrace them as kin. We need to do away with stereotypes and prejudices. We need to embrace those of all races, genders, sexualities, and religion. We need to voice together our injustices. We need to stop tearing others down. Let go of your old grudges and form new unions.
We need to be one, a revolutionary new union.

That sounded a lot better when I was forming it in my head. Hopefully it's articulate and inspired you at least a little bit. In my head I had this whole slam poetry thing going on but unfortunately I sort of lost it after I ate lunch. The main point of my rage is that we are far too apathetic and lazy. We are a generation of anger and apathy which is a dangerous and potentially deadly combination.
