That is a harsh judgment. What sort of toys do you think would have been better?

Anything that would bring a child delight. Toys are for children to play with, are they not?

How noble a sentiment. You found the toys yesterday to be lacking?

Considering they didn't fulfill their intended purpose, yes.

Perhaps they weren't allowed enough time.

It should be an instantaneous reaction. Tell me, have you ever watched children tear apart a delicately wrapped present with utmost excitement only to find something they never asked for? The pure glee drained from their face...

I have never had that occasion. Shall I count myself lucky? All the same, in yesterday's case, the toys were not given to any children. It seems to be a rather different situation.

But were the case any different, they would have been broken and discarded. Why does my opinion on toys matter so much to you, anyway?

You assume not a single child would have wanted one of those toys.

It doesn't at all, of course.

I don't assume. I know for a fact that desperation also taints one's level of taste. A poor child would take anything offered, but the rich have the right to pick and choose.

Afraid I might find reason to shatter one of your toys?

Ah, so you mean that only the rich children matter?

Oh no, my toys are ever so much more durable.

I didn't mean that. Stop twisting my words around!

Instead, perhaps you should arrange them with more care?
