Hi all!
Well, as I write this, gas prices have just soared again. Albeit down here it's 3.39. I can only imagine what my native Michiganders' price is up to now. I just saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said something like, "When Bush took office, gas was 1.43" Really puts it into perspective. Just sad that the government still can't get it through their heads that interest rate cuts aren't going to solve the problem. When people can't afford to put gas in the tank to even get to work to make money for other things, like I don't know, FOOD, then that's going to be a problem! I'm crossing my fingers that one day Columbus will get a metro rail. I doubt it though.
On my job situation, I'm still endlessly throwing my resume out here and there. Lately I've had some success in nabbing interviews for Financial Advisor positions. I know a lot of it would be commission based, but at least I could be selling people something that might actually help them rather than something that'll collect dust on their shelves two months from now like DVD's, etc. I just know something has to change, because a below poverty salary at Barnes isn't going to cut it. I'm sorry, when you've been with a company for going on three years, with a college degree now, and you still haven't cracked $8/hr. yet, something's off. Although it does have good benefits.
Much Ado has been going well. It's been a little trying at times, trying to fit in with a new group that appears to have worked with one another before and I kinda feel like the outsider. But it's been going well, just trying to get my lines solidified. It's definitely a diverse group where you can tell some have more theatrical experience than others. But when isn't theatre a learning process? I guess it's just been interesting for me, because it seems like the only roles I've ever known before are "old men" so it's just refreshing to be able to play a sort of romantic lead for a change!
I know it's a shot in the dark for my Michigan friends/family, but if you feel like making a road trip to Columbus, Much Ado has shows on April 24-26 at 7:30 pm and April 27 at 2 pm, and then again on May 1-3 at 7:30 pm and then a pretty sweet May 4 show at 2 pm at an actual castle just outside of Columbus. If you get a chance, check out www.rosebriarshakespeare.org for all the details!
Other than that, all is well! Ashley and I are still going stronger than ever, having celebrated our one year back in February! Awww, I know! :) Heck, it's just hard to believe that in a little more than a year, I'll have graduated from GVSU! Anywho, I do hope all is well with everyone, especially GV people. I know I probably don't keep in touch like I used to, but it doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about you guys, so drop me a line sometime if able! Also, thank you to everyone who has supported Ashley's and my business! If you didn't see the bulletin on MySpace, check out www.youravon.com/mtilmann Mother's Day is coming up!
