"I'm Goin' Home"

Since I'm not sure if I'll be able to post after tonight's show and before Closing Sunday tomorrow, I figured I should maybe write now. Rocky has definitely been quite the EXPERIENCE. Even though my role as the Narrator is certainly a unique one in regard to the rest of the show, and according to the audience is the character you love to hate, it has been nothing but an absolute blast. And frankly, I couldn't be more glad that my final show at Grand Valley is the Rocky Horror Show. I mean, after the midnight show...the pure, solid, rock concert energy that poured out from them that resulted in like a 2-3 minute straight standing ovation for us at the end, I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world. It was truly something you had to be there to experience. I'm sure most of you have heard about it by now, but our Brad wound up getting sick during both shows, which resulted in the stoppage of one for ten minutes, but he pulled through and rocked it out. The beauty of live theater folks! But the one thing I'll remember from the midnight show, is before Frank came out and the first drum beats of Sweet Transvestite started, the crowd went absolutely NUTS! The roar was deafening! But as this is my last go around, it kind of made me reminisce about how far I've come here. So Rocky cast, if you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING. You guys totally rock, and all better keep in touch!

It all started in the fall of 2004 in Measure for Measure, playing Officer #3 and a Monk, and was also my first introduction to Roger. I would then go on to audition for North of Providence and Am I Blue and did get a callback, but alas nothing. However, that would eventually pave the way for the circus that was Fumed Oak, and I wound up playing 14 year old Elsie, ironically in drag as well! Then came the ridiculousness that was Big Love, that resulted in about five minutes of stage time, but was an awesome show to be a part of! Then fall of 2005 rolls around I first get introduced to Ian and Bard To Go. That whole experience in itself was certainly something that I feel made me stronger as an actor. Especially in the Shakespearean sense and led to an ACTF nom, that while I didn't get to compete, still got to experience the Festival. Following that was You Can Lead A Horse To Water. That was a unique experience, but definitely not one of those shows I'd want to do again, especially if it was the same role. After that was In The Experience, was such a great time that allowed me to meet some new friends and gain some dance experience. Then there was that The Servant of Two Masters playing Pantalone. I had such an amazing time with that, that I would do a revival of that ANYday! Then we arrive at this year as Sir Nathaniel in Love's Labour's Lost. That was definitely an interesting show, that I enjoyed, especially with the New Orleans setting. Autumn in the Valley was such a great experience, especially with the roles I had. I just felt that it was so rushed, that I wasn't really sure if I had the time to enjoy it! "Oh Dad" was a unique experience in and of itself. I had a good time. And then here we are with Rocky! Hard to believe we first got cast in November! What a wild and amazing ride it has been here at Grand Valley. Something I'll certainly never trade for anything in the world! It's given me the chance to be a part of ten shows, allowed me to make hundreds and hundreds of friends, I love every bit about it. But as the old saying goes, as one door closes, another opens. Real world, I'll be there in a little while :) If you've made it this far, I sincerely appreciate it! I love everyone!
