I know everyone and their dog is having a huge freak out because the Fault in Our Stars movie trailer just came out.
It's a story about two kids with cancer who fall in love, and find deep meaning in life despite their illnesses. The book's by John Green, of vlog brother fame (who I love as a vlogger, but dont' care for so much as a writer.)
I'll come right out and admit that I haven't read the book. The Internet seems to think it's God's gift to the young adult romance genre, and yes, it does look intruiging. The fact that someone wrote a book about kids with an illness is pretty damn awesome. But I don't really want to read it. Why? Because it's not my kind of romance.
The two characters meet, fall in love, go through all the emotional upheaval of having cancer, [something spoilery happens] and the book ends. I just don't want to read a book where the main thing the relationship/characters/etc have to overcome is illness. I've had enough illness in my life. I don't need to read about more.
So sorry if I'm not all up on the movie hype. I'm sure it's going to be really well done, and I'm sure if I went I would cry my eyes out.
But I think I'll take a pass.
