Movie review: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Let's start with THIS MOVIE WAS SO AWESOME!!

Bullet points, shall we?
(warning. this post wil have spoilers for both the book and the movie)

-Martin Freeman is such an amazing actor. Really. He keeps rocking it as Bilbo. I want to him to win an Oscar for this role. Or for SOMETHING.

-Killi and Tauriel. At first, I thought "really? You want to throw a random love story in the middle of The Hobbit? A book with absolutely no women or romance of any kind? " Then I thought awwww, this is actually kind of adorbs. Here is my theory on how it is goign to play out. In the book, Filli and Killi die in the end, trying to protect Thorin Oakenshield, who also kicks the bucket. So my theory is, Killi dies trying to protect Thorin, and Tauriel dies either by his side, or trying to protect him. Either way, they will both die, and Tauriel's death will re-spark Legolas's hatred for dwarves.

-Did Legolas's eyes look computer enhanced to anyone? Maybe he was just wearing really weird contact lenses, but they looked abnormally big, somehow.

-Horray for the return of Radagast!!

-They really started to deviate from the book after the barrel ride. In the books, they rode the barrels down the river, arrived in Lake Town, and that was it. In this, SHIT HAPPENED. Which is okay. They are taking what is a book that takes less than 6 hours to read, and making it into 3 movies that will be about 10 hours. It's still awesome.

-Stephen Fry! How delightfully unexpected to see you here!

-You too, Peter Jackson! Way to pull a cameo.

All in all, LOVED THIS MOVIE. Loved the cliffhanger ending. Can not wait for the next one.
