(no subject)
So my first week of ‘university’ is done. And here in the Netherlands, to take away confusion for all those English natives, university is the highest form of education you can get, because they only offer academic courses with a scientific foundation. Pfew. Although university? For international people I now have to say ‘Leiden Law School’. It sounds ..strange.
After 3 years I hope to get my bachelors degree, internationally valued and a year thereafter, my masters. But before we get there. I am a bit overwhelmed with ‘university life’, where you’re really an individual and do not know the person sitting right next to you. At least during classes with 200 to 300 other students. It’s strange, scary but at the other side I’m highly glad with the challenge I’m not getting - and looking for all along.
During our first week we already had a lot to do and I spend 10 hours of homework yesterday on preparation. Some of these hours I had intended to spend on the WWS instead. However I’m glad that during ‘state and government law’ I already had to deal with mister infamous Bush, the comments of Zacharia on pulling Iraqi in a democracy instantly when it took us more than a century to get there. Stuff that fries your mind but really gives you something to think about; along with federal paws, locke and holmes. Any of you heard of those guys/stuff?
My life is going to be very different from this point on. All I can say that in its early stage I love it, I feel more now than ever I have a purpose, something to reach and to go. Laws is just opening a new world to go abroad, work for the police, become a lawyer or work at the government. Many possibilities (..if I manage to survive this year and if I’m smart enough) I’m at the country’s 3rth university and it has it’s strictest requirements to go to the next year. They didn’t lie when they said - look left and right of you, one of the person’s isn’t going to be there next year. 33% ..doesn’t make it.
Whatever the case I finally feel like I’m going somewhere, do you have that feeling?
As for the WWS, I’m aware, aside from computer difficulties I haven’t been around for two days. I’ll need to give it a space in my life again, only in ways different than before =)
