back in Oregon...and it's still snowy!

Ok, it's ot snowing anymore, which is good. We had about two feet or something like that in the weeks leading up, and yet I found little time to update. But one of my new year's resolutions is to keep better track of things like life. Just because there aren't a lot of big events in my life day to day doesn't mean I shouldn't be recording it. But there was a big event, as you may have guessed! I went South for the winter!
I finally making it to Mom's for Christmas eve and opened presents with Heidi and the fam. I was of course spoiled, garnering alot of chocolate and starbucks cards in particular. I am such a lucky girl. After a rough ride we finally got Heidi on the road home. The roads were horrible until you got to the freeway. We watched National Lampoon's Christmas vacation on the eve, instead of the usual white christmas, which for some reason (sarcasm!) we weren't in the meed for a show about snow.
On Christmas day I joined Heidi and her Mom, sister and Step-father for the flight to Orlando. We played cards and bejeweled on our iphones and her itouch for most of the flights, which went quite smooth. It was so nice to get to the warmth of Orlando after the cold of Oregon, even though we were pretty tired from the journey. We stayed at a hotel the first night and it was so nice just to take a shower and wash off the travel.
The next day i was really excited to get on the way to Disney, because I love me some disney! Our first park of the trip was Animal Kingdom, which was fabulous. We saw silver back Gorillas, Okapi and naked mole rats. Our first ride was possibly the best; the Kilmangaro safari where we were scant feet from Rhino, elephants and more. It was really wonderful. Our next ride, after seeing tigers ( and I swear I saw more tigers move on thing trip than in 25 years of going to the oregon zoo) was the Kali rapids, where Heidi and I were the only ones to get utterly soaked. Next up was Expedition everest, which was awesome! After you go through the line that gets you all psyched for the Yeti, to go up the mountain and then the train stops for a while then you go backwards in the dark, then forward and then back and see the yeti shadow and then back and forward and then you see...the Yeti! Except I didn't see him the first time, se we did it three more times in a row a few hours later, after dark. We then went to the Dinosaur area and I won whac-a-dino and got a prize for my lovely lady, then we did the "Dinosaur" ride which was very fun and thrilling, especially when the giant dino jumps out at you at the end. We saw Finding Nemo the musical after that, which was visually stunning but musically banal, so not my favorite. All in all the Animal kingdom was wonderful I highly recommend it.
The next day was...my 25th Birthday! Woohoo! So of course it was the day of the magic kingdom and it was wonderful! We got there early so we walked right on Jungle cruise, Pirates, thunder mountain, haunted mansion and it's a small world. Haunted mansion was m favorite but the whole day was great. We also did splash and space mountains twice. We ate a huge turkey leg, a churo for breakfast, a corn dog, ice cream and orange chicken throughout the day. We napped on the carousel of progress, i won space blasting on buzz light year, we interacted with virtual monsters on the monsters inc laugh floor and got dizzy on the tea cups. We walked so much that we were exhausted at times but we kept going! We saw Micky's christmas parade and the wonderful fire works and at the end of the day the spectro magic parade, which is like the electric parade, which I loved. Oh, I also spent the whole day in Pirates of the Caribbean mickey ears.
It was a wonderful birthday foull of love and magic from disney and the wonderful people I got to share it with (including Heidi's aunt, who joined us and is so sweet) especailly my favorite girl. Who gave me tickets to Wicked btw!
The next day was Epcot which was not my favorite if only because I was quite tired by then and a crepe disagreed with me. We all really enjoyed the Trest Rack ride and mission: space. The Norwegian ride that I remembered being really cool when I was little was quite lame, but the international pavilions were nice and the food (other than the crepe) was great. The great thing about epcot is there is good beer, which made my girl all cute and rosy cheeked. I also enjoyed the nice Boat ride in Mexico and the wonderful, wonderful dinner in "Paris." And the Fireworks show on the lake was woderful. THe next day was Hollywood studios...
Hollywood studios main attraction is the two thrill rides: the rocking roller coaster, which is really fun, but short and the tower of terror which was awesome. Another great thing was the lights, motor, action show which has some awesome car stunts. I highly recommend. THe other rides were fun and the show at the end of the day, fantasmic, was awesome. Mickey goes on this journey through all these disney movies then ends up facing all these evil villains, and eventually fighting the Dragon from sleeping Beauty (which I love). Sadly the dragon lost but the show was great and after I found...a stuffed Malificent dragon! Heehee!
It was a great trip with a great bunch of people who I really enjoyed traveling with. The next leg of the trip took me west to New Orleans then back East to Mobile to get to know my family again.
My Mother's family is southern, and crazy, and they know this. But I love them all and I really enjoyed seeing everyone and catching up. I loved meeting and plating with everyone's Pets too, especially a cat named Molly, or Mo, who slept with me every night ad got in the trunk to come home with me at the end of the trip. I was able to visit the cemetery where my grandfather and alot of other relatives are burried and that just made me think about family and how I feel that all my family is always with me, which is a good way too feel.
it is Nice to be home and my wrists hurt now, so I am off to bed I must be careful because I wiped out racing Heidi to the door of my apartment, but It was funny enough to be worth it. Hopefully, the snow will melt by morning, as it often does.
