The casting for Game of Thrones is perfect. It's such a good adaptation that I'm definitely glad I read the books first, because otherwise it would completely dominate any mental picture of their contents.

That said, the basic gist of the entire series seems to be "Women make really bad decisions." I don't mean that the men in the thing are particular sagacious; they make plenty of bad decisions themselves, but a number of them are of the "Should I do what this woman wants me to do or not?" sort, and the truly groundbreakingly bad decisions that lead to ridiculously awful things going on are made by women.

And did I just entirely miss the homosexual relationship between Loras and Renly? I didn't pick up on that in the books at all, the HBO series has them lathering each other up physically and metaphorically.
