I was pretty lucky to get to go up, it turns out. Visibility was *shitty*. It was hot and humid as hell, and you couldn't even see the tower from the field, just a vague outline in the haze. It eventually lightened up enough for them to get a waiver to fly, and so our 10:00-scheduled flight got off at about noon, and then when we got back they shut the engines down because it turned out the waiver didn't let them fly with passengers.
Yeah, they opened the bay doors.
Crawled down under the cockpit to look out the front. You can see how disgustingly hazy it was out.
This was excellent. Small group of reenactors were putting on a demonstration, and this guy shows up and starts telling folks about the BAR he had to carry through Normandy.
I'm pretty sure her hair color isn't authentic. The eyebrows might not be either. But still, she could change my catheter any time.
A Hawker Sea Fury. Never seen one up close before, they're pretty rare. They were made just as the war was winding down, and one managed to shoot down a MiG-15 in Korea, which is pretty goddamned impressive.
That's all I have time to put up now. Leaving for Alabama tomorrow, so I gotta go pack.
