i got this in my email at work. thought some of you might be vaguely interested. of course, in most of our lines of employ, wearing jeans won't really be cause for questions, but anyway...

Wed. April 24 is Denim Day, an event developed by the Los Angeles
Commission on Assault Against Women (LACAAW). All men and women are encouraged to wear denim to work on this day to raise awareness of violence against women.

The event was developed because of a 1999 Italian court decision which ruled that a victim could not have been raped by her alleged assailant because her jeans were too tight for the perpetrator to have removed without assistance. (!) The event is supported by Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante's office and many DV and women's health organizations.

At the Iris Cantor-UCLA Women's Health Education & Resource Center our staff will be wearing denim and we will be posting information on Denim Day. I don't know if it is permitted for you or your staff and faculty to wear denim but if they can, this is a most worthy reason to wear it and help educate the public.

i've been migrainey for two days now. i am sick of my body and the fact that it doesn't seem to want to FUNCTION NORMALLY! and i haven't been able to sleep, either. last night i was actually lying awake with the phrase "can't sleep, clown'll eat me" running through my head. argh!

politics, physical
