Summary:
When Derek Hale arrives at the Beacon Hills Young Adult Rehabilitation Center, he plans on keeping his head down and serving the rest of his time in minimum security peace. Stiles Stilinski changes all of that.
This is like the best AU that I've read because I CONNECT WITH IT!!! Obviously my nursing clinicals at a psychiatric hospital has skewed my perspective in liking this well-written fic, but the main premise is that they include Ms. McCall, a nurse with wonderful listening skills and AWESOME THERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION and being a badass when she KNOWS Harris is a lying douchebag doctor who shouldn't even be working at this hospital and how did he get a degree in the first place?! CHEATING LYING BASTARD.
Best part was everything is in Derek's perspective, like how everyone is so happy at this place while he's there for detention related to all the stressors in his life. It really makes sense too! He's dealing with a homocidal Peter, lingering anger problems related to Laura's death, depression due to Kate manipulating him and killing all of his family, and hopelessness because he doesn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Treatment and interventions? STILES STILINSKI, level 2 checks (every 15 min), and positive social interactions. UGH DEREK WOULD BE THE SO HARD TO TREAT, sulking all the time with a reputation and not aiming to get better when everyone around him (besides Harris) is trying to help him with the best of their ability. He's the hardest shell to crack. Still love how the relationship with Derek and Stiles develop, running buddies to concerned about each other's well being and learning each other's backstory. (I wish there was a social services group session where everyone in the young adult center shared their stories though. Lots of misunderstandings can be prevented this way, but of course, harder to write plot.)
