Some friends were requesting updates on my adventures out East with respect to both la belle province and school so I'll try to summarize my life as of late.

Montreal

We got our first snowfall not too long ago (I think about 4 days?). zemus had some pretty awesome pictures on the montreal community:

I'm trying to figure out some good ways to say "My French ain't very good" (Southern accent optional). So far, I'm thinking:

"Je parle un petit peu de français mais pas très bien." I don't think that's correct but perhaps my mistakes will get the point across better haha

...or perhaps "Désolé. Me français est mauvais."

I'm not sure about the correctness of either of them :\

I think there might be more practicing French groups but I just haven't gotten out enough to really figure out what's out there. I've just kind of cocooned myself and I think I need to go for some serious exploring adventures.

Oh and regarding the humidity, it's much more humid than Alberta here. I'm not sure about comparing it to Vancouver but I hear that the humidity here just makes the cold seep through your coat and chill you to the bone. One of the student planners had a list of things to do in Montreal before graduation - one of those was "cry from the cold."

Wikipedia claims that the average low temperatures in Dec/Jan out here are around -10/-13. If so, I can deal with that easily. So far we've had -10 a bunch of times and it's A-OK for me. Either I'm underestimating how brutal the weather can get out here or everyone else is underestimating my tolerance for it. I think I'll be fine.

I grew up with that too (Edmonton). I remember looking over at my friend and seeing his eyelashes all white and frozen together even though both of us were dressed like mummies with no skin exposed.

Right now we have pretty nice weather actually - hoodie weather (about 4 degrees on average). The pic above is from Wikipedia warning people about Montreal's weather.

Oh and I watched some of the Vancouver news casts when you guys were getting crazy snow...fucking hilarious! The one newscaster was saying, "With the windchill, it's about 20 below. If I take my gloves off for just a few moments...well, you can really feel it!"

hahahaha breaking news: "You can really feel it"
