The tension and the energy in this is perfect, how Dean knows Castiel from the past and knows that he has all of these emotions associated with him, but he doesn't know why that is. The last two paragraphs are particularly powerful.

Thank you for the feedback! I really didn't want to lose the sense of their profound bond, but slipping back into a brainspace where Cas was an unknown entity was, well, weird.
