Robin Hood series three

Apr 05, 2009 15:57

The third series of Bobbin is two episodes in well underway and the gang are, as Much put it, "back". Obviously, some shit has gone down; Bobbin dislocated a shoulder and met a friar that likes to play God while the remaining gang members faced a massive arrow...

But, fun and games aside, where is Marian?

Yes, yes it looked a bit like Guy stabbed her... but we've all seen the conspiracy theory video's on Youtube, right?

I would have thought, that in the fifteen months the bastards writers and producers have had to make the show, they would have come up with SOME way of bringing her back. They had only to turn their attention to the internet, where Marian has been resurrected in a variety of ways - each more unlikely imaginative than the last, for inspiration. Even if it was to just ignore the stabbing accident and go from episode ten, you'd have thought they'd have come up with something a bit better than her actually being dead.

Surely the show can't go on without it's leading lady!

I didn't even like her to begin with. She was always either being annoyingly moral and severe or she was being a pricktease. Now she's gone I realise I hated, yep hated, her so much was because I really admired her and she made me feel a bit inadequate. If I were Guy I'd have stabbed her too. I sort of feel like it's my fault she's dead.

Unfortunately, despite a few vague hopes about there being no blood on her dress and no shot of her actually in a grave with sand being heaped upon her (on a kids show?), I am beginning to think she might actually not be coming back afterall.

Which is why I have spent my every waking moment Sunday contemplating the evidence before me.

Reasons to think Maz may return:
  1. Who sent Tuck! I know he claims to have just heard about Bobbin whilst on the road... but how did he know about Marian's ring? We didn't even know about Marian's ring! I've never seen it before and I went through old episodes looking for it. Sure he might have guessed it'd be enough to convince the gang of his tale about Bobbin from the fact the man has it round his neck like a relic but still...
  2. Bobbin riled Guido about feeling a little low on account of their shared love's death. Is he a little cross that Guy tried... but not sad because he didn't actually manage to kill her? Probably not.
  3. Why wouldn't RA discuss Lucy in this interview? He completely sidesteps discussing the ins and outs of her absence from filming. Yeah, it could be because they had a 'thing' and he doesn't want to talk about her... OR it could be because she has not been absent!
  4. Plus the traditional reasons of there being no blood, it all being a bit badly shot and her little smile [which I don't really see] at Guy before she falls.
Reasons she probably isn't:
  1. The 'no blood on her dress' theory was sort of debunked by Mathew's death in last nights episode, Cause and Effect. Guy ran him through with his sword... but no blood. Perhaps Guy is like Darth Vader and can kill without drawing blood?
  2. Bobbin seemed to believe Marian was dead... at least for the first episode. He wouldn't have buried her fugly and hitherto unmentioned ring if he didn't attach some sort of meaning to the action.
  3. In this interview Guy says the ending is pretty unbelievable... is that because Zombie!Marian has managed to drag her decomposing arse back from Acre, perhaps as a stow-away on one of Wills carpentry visits, and attacks Guy in a fit undead rage? I think it does!
So there you have it. Tuck resurrects Marian and she blabs about the ring. He pushes on to get in there early and smack Bobbin about as soon as possible while Marian limps and shuffles her zombie way at a slightly slower rate back to Blighty, where she attacks and eventually munches on Guido. Will visits again and builds her a little shed, where she and Bobbin play video games.

I think this is most likely the direction the writers chose to go in. Afterall, they had to top the fanfic, right? They're the proffesionals, they couldn't be outdone by the fans!
