There has been alot of talk on LJ recently about the new series of Robin Hood and the absence of Lady Marian in particular.
However, I think that in our readiness to mourn the loss* of Lady Maz we have forgotten another missing piece of the show... one that you perhaps didn't realise was there to begin with. At least, not consciously... and now you find the show hollow and cannot quite put your finger on what it's lacking.
It's such a small detail that it was only my obsessive searching for "Marian's oh so significant but oh such an afterthought ring" that it was brought to my attention.
What is it? I think perhaps Sir Edward had better tell you.
Ah Edward, even in death you still manage it.
Yes, it is indeed: Hats.
Your hats in particular, Fitzwalter.
What in the name of Matilda's abandoned undergarments were his hats about!
I mean, the show has had some pretty gnarly headgear gracing the screen...
There are more, trust me. I mean, Much isn't even in there.
But of all the Hilarious hat action - which has been pretty motherfrackin' lacking in Series three so far - Sir Edward's were the funniest.
Possibly made so by the fact he was always so miserable... something to do with his daughter showing him up at every opportunity.
I think Maz made him wear the hats...
His weird wig!hats will be greatly missed in all future episodes of RH.
As will his slightly Alan Watts-esque dress sense
*or is it! ...yes
