YES, DEFINITELY. Chocolate would grow on trees. We would be in dire need of exercise regimes and more people would sign up for nutrition courses. The abstemious can only hold their cravings in for so long.
So much for a little self-entertainment.
I should've stayed home today. If I did I'd have studied with a glass of orange juice. But I didn't, opting instead to accompany my family to my sister's scholarship award presentation. Admittedly while idling in the air-conditioned hall and squirming in my seat I felt a bit damaged for not getting anything but I cheered up considerably after hearing the Guest of Honour speak. No, it wasn't inspiring or uplifting.
How should I put it? Ninety percent of speeches that I've heard in my life sound unprepared/strained/boring and this time I was right about it. There's always a certain satisfaction that comes coupled with being right. Having been through public speaking and the like it wouldn't be fair if I said speaking to a crowd of strangers (or otherwise) was easy, simply because it's not. I didn't like it much anyway, but that doesn't change anything.
They left out the eclairs from the refreshments table this year. Why? Don't they realise how much people love those custard-filled, chocolate-topped, thumb-shaped things that go 'squish' when speared with a fork? Oh yes they're so unhealthy it makes one shiver(especially when one takes one, and another, and another...), but oily fried noodles and dripping, marinated chicken wings are, too.
We went shopping after that. Which wasn't a disaster. Which means I didn't break my legs walking. I bought a melon soda, three packets of candy in preparation for late nights. Sembawang Shopping Centre is too small and too far away from any mrt station for a second visit. Even the bookstore was tiny. There wasn't a records store: I checked both with the directory and customer service. Besides New York New York and Subway I couldn't find better, familiar outlets to eat at; I skipped lunch.
Crappy, but today was not a bad day, by standards. I bonded with a neglected pair of black skinny jeans and we're both as happy as pie.
