I love these posts! I did actually go to Target and get myself a pair of convertible mittens like in your first post, and they are the best thing ever.
I don't subscribe to any of the podcasts you listed, but I am always trying out new ones and figuring out what I want to hear week to week or more sporadically. I'm going to try out the ones you listed, for sure.
Here are some of my favorites:
Speaking of Faith - Krista Tippett is amazing. She used to be an ambassador, and she is genuinely as smart as the people she interviews. The show covers lots of various aspects of faith and religion, and how they intersect with politics and personal life. The show is very balanced, and it also has an amazing web team who design beautiful sites and make annotated versions of every episode so you can dig deeper.
KCRW's Bookworm - Michael Silverblatt discusses books with authors, and it's very clear that he reads the author's whole catalogue before they come on the show. He often make insights the author herself didn't even think of.
In my dreams I'm one of the caller's that is a big hit and tells all the funny jokes, like that woman who made fun of Peter for being on the bowling team, but in reality I would completely freeze up and hang up. XDD
