more conversations with my mom
So, as my desktop, I happen to have
My mom says, "Ooooh. Who's THAT?"
Me: "The singer I like."
Mom: "Oooooooh. He's very good-looking."
In conclusion: mom has good taste. She also suggests that the next time anyone dares to call me a whore/slut or similar, I should say, "What, do I look Sumerian to you?" Mom was also very impressed about Lance's cosmonaut training, although when I offered to let her read his memoir, she said, "Um, that's okay, thanks." Tonight we are going to Threadgill's for some awesome southern food and then watching DWTS again. We voted for Lance with 4 email addresses! YAY.
I have some things to complain about, but I don't think I will do it here. Look at me, showing restraint!
My mom thinks I should go to Camp Sparkle. I'm seriously considering it. I've never really been out of the country before (Canada and Mexico and anywhere that doesn't require a passport don't count!) and pensnest promises it will be awesome. Truthfully, I am worried mostly about my nerves. Going to Wincon the first time was scary enough--I don't think I left wendy's side for a single second aside from the panel I was on, in which I proceeded to insult all the Smallville fans there by saying that the show sucked, I don't watch it, and I only write Mike and Tom into my RPF as filler and because I need more that 2 people to write about. And then txtequilanights's phone promptly rang, playing the Smallville theme song.
So I'm really considering it and I want to go, but my anxiety is a thing of epic proportions at times. I'm really terrible at meeting new people. Going to a foreign country PLUS meeting new people? Urgh, it would be so hard. I don't doubt I'd throw up on the way over, probably several times. But as my mom said, if I go, I'll carry that experience with me for the rest of my life. I could buy a new laptop instead, but that'll be useless in three years, and a trip and meeting people will stay with me forever.
I just need to get my brain to cooperate. First step: next month when I get paid, get a passport.
