My dad smoked pot up until he died, although at the end I think it was more to help the nausea and pain than to get high. *shrug* He was old, but he never seemed old. They were both hippies and extremely liberal. For all the "bad" things they did that I've listed here, they did a lot of other things that a lot of people in this country would consider much worse, but I consider extremely awesome. Like, that my mom's best friend was a lesbian; that she always told me that she'd rather I smoke pot than drink, but if I was going to drink and I got drunk and couldn't drive, to always call her and she'd pick me up; that if I wanted to have sex, let her know and she'd get my on birth control. She bought my my first vibrator. My dad used to make me watch Crossfire with him, and he'd explain why everyone was wrong :P When I was 7, I told my dad he was going to hell for swearing so much, and he told me, "I'm a Jew, we don't believe in hell." They let me quit Church when I told them I didn't believe in God (at age 8). They somehow paid for all my dance and gymnastics lessons, plus competitions and weekends at conventions and workshops.
Anyway. I think they were pretty awesome.
