Dear Harold:
This has been a busy week. Have been cleaning house. We had a little rain but not enough and it is still very dry and dusty. Daddy has had a sort of grippe all week but keeps going and seems to have a hard time throwing it off.
Jean and Bill had their play this week or rather it was an operetta and they repeated it 3 times in two days and Jean is just all tired out. It was a garden scene. First boys in overalls came in and planted the garden and sang their song. Then the flowers came in (they were little girls with colored crepe paper dresses), then the sunbeams, the merry little breezes, the clouds, the rain; the rainbow, the bees, the butterflies (all these groups represented by children in costumes), the white bunnies, the frogs, etc. Each had their dance and song to do. It was very pretty.
Mrs. Grunewald stopped one evening to say that Bob had received the candy but hadn't written and I was to tell you thanks.
Tell Grandma prospects for fruit are good now. Our currants are not so good. There seems to be only half of the bunches filled. Heine thinks he may have turned the hose on them at the wrong time. We have two plums on the plum tree. We have rhubarb we brought from Vic's but it is not growing much. It is so terribly dry. No one seems to care for it but me. Will make marmalade from it.
I suppose Lena is visiting you now.
We are planning to go to Tonica on Decoration Day. Maybe we shall see Aunt Tillie. She said she was going.
Am feeling better but still have medicine to take and shall have two more shots.
Did I tell you I had finished my dress and like it and Daddy likes it.
Guess that's all today.
Much love,
Mother

P.S. Tell Uncle Gaylord Daddy paid for the piano out of the farm money. It was $8.50.
