We went over to the Ala Wai and onto Elmer's boat. Then I rowed around in a rowboat where the thing that held the oarlock was loose and the dad-burned wind nearly blew me out to sea. I had a terrible time but finally got over to the wall and got out and pulled the boat along the side until I could row over to Elmer's boat.

Dear Mother,
I received your last letter along with Jean's and Bill's and I liked it very much. If you are not so well, you don't have to write because it won't be long now before I will be home. Today I went rowing again. In my last letter I forgot to say that on Sunday we went to Mr. Best's and had dinner. It was Mr. Best's birthday and boy did I eat a lot. He gave me some stamps too, swell ones. Then we went to his musicale. Thursday we went to the Bible class (Grandma and I). We had watermelon today and a new bunch of bananas are coming out. When they first came out they looked like an ear of corn.

Dear Jean and Bill,
Our class at school is going to have a class picnic on June 15, over at Kailua Bay where we will go swimming. June 15 is the last day of school for us. When do you have your last day at school? Ask mother, she probably knows. I liked your letters very much and hope you will write me another one.
Your Brother,
Harold XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
