I think I've finally figured out why it's been so hard for me to start studying for the CSET (in mid-September). I've spent the last 2 hours trying to study some California history* and after about an hour and a half of reading, I can't immediately recall anything I've read. Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if there's a point to studying at all. I understand what I read and if given a multiple choice question to answer, I could probably figure out the correct answer (I'm less confident about doing this for the written portion), but off the top of my head, nada.
So, in about 2 hours I managed to read through the California history section on Wikipedia.** So now, I just need to go to a bookstore and read up on American government & economics*** before rounding out my seemingly half-assed attempt at studying by looking over my old AP Euro notes.

*CSET has 3 subtests that basically include world history, U.S. history, American government/economics, California history, & geography.
**Academic writing & research methods be damned. Wikipedia's convenient if you're short on time and too cheap to buy books with the same information that you'll only use once in your life.
***Only received about a month's worth of econ in high school.
