The Twilight Moon
Setsuna Narrates: All that ever was and ever will be is written in the annals of time. Some will be called history and some will be called fairy tales, but no matter how tragic or fantastic there are always songs lost between the lines.
The moon known to the mortals of this day, dead and pale, is not very far different from the kingdom that once existed in the old millennium; the king and queen stood side by side bonded by fear of chaos.
Fear is no kind of strength for two leaders to an entire system of planetary kingdoms and guardians and yet there they stood fighting chaos with cold emotionless control.
Control in itself is nothing but the illusion of power, in keeping an entire system completely free of evil, or any opinionated form of indecency for that matter, you can only expect it to emerge with a powerful vengeance when your at rest.
When a child is born it should be a moment of joy for the future of a brand new life, but on this day all that was expected was the opportunity to bring into creation the perfect weapon against chaos, the Silver Crystal. Baby serenity was born smiling and from her smile came the infinite power of the silver crystal. King and Queen never gave question to the true source of the crystal, resting assured it was simply an all powerful solutions to any danger that could ever befall their kingdom.
Chaos made its first attack on the future, sending its dark energy to the Twilight Kingdom where it invaded the womb holding the future prince of the Twilight Moon. A day before the princess was born so was her destined mate, or so it seemed. From the Twilight queens womb came two children, boys both but one terribly ill and the other burning to the touch with the chaos energy aura, and also from her womb came the mysterious Blood Crystal.
What power is greatest of all? higher than earth, wind, fire, water, death, life, time, darkness and light all together? The secret of both crystals is very simple, the power that would serve the next queen and her daughter after her, the unbeatable power of love. Love is also a strange thing in itself, infinite in power but also in forms, for the millenia to come only two forms manifested strongest, the love of a baby who knew she would give her life for others of necessary, and to another who did just that.
The moment the chaos energy poisoned the fetuses in the womb one brother could not bare the thought of his brothers pain and drew every tainted modicum into himself. In the end there would be a love to die for, and a love to hurt for.
The Pain was excruciating for a thing that had not yet learned to walk or even breath air and yet it first learned love, then pain. Love and Pain would be followed by cold, nightmare, and loneliness.
Once both boys were risen to the chilling crystal snow of the twilight and one shivered cold while the other whined as the snow melted to water on his skin, they knew they would present only one of them to the rulers of the moon.
Gemini grew into a strong willed and kind hearted young man, albeit an albino with a frail body and a tendency to become ill on a frequent basis. Yttrialite grew with only his brother to keep him company as he was kept hidden in the bowels of the kingdom to prevent word of his existence. The energy inside him gave him nightmares of destruction, visions of madness, knowledge of demon races and rituals along with ungodly power beyond his need, and yet his heart remained ever pure with the knowledge that he saved his brother from such a fate. His mind was always in his control and he occupied it with music and books while occupying his body with physical training and martial arts, hoping to someday be able to protect his brother.
As the White haired,red eyed brother and the sable haired, red eyed brother grew side by side one grew tall, strong and wise. Gemini marvelled at his brothers philosophy especially when in reflection of the king and queen.
" It must be a spectacle of Gods humor, that our rulers learn control through preventing confrontation...while I live in constant intimacy with chaos and learn control through accepting and defiance"
Gemini knew there and then that he would not let himself be made into king. Once matured he was taken to begin courting the Princess whose beauty was beyond words, and yet he would put on a charade of disgust to keep her distant from him. When she was sent to the Twilight Kingdom to visit the prince she could now barely tolerate, he put in his plan to lead her to his brother.
The Twilight cold required anyone in the kingdom to wear warm fur, so there wrapped warmly she ventured through the dark halls following a voice she found annoying she became quickly distracted by the sweet sound of gentle music. She journeyed deep into the palace where she found a room light by a single candle, where she saw a young man playing a harp with eyes shut tight.
Yttrialite turned and opened his eyes, and in his world of darkness for once he saw a light, and felt a warmth far sweeter than the burning blood in his veins. Introductions were meekly made from two shy lovers, and the romance had begun. Always in secret, with Gemini to hide them with lies he would gladly make for the joy of seeing his brother so happy as they would dance in the Crystal snow, holding her close so his hot blood would keep her warm, lavender tails and a sable curtain of hair swinging in the cold around them. Childish games of innocent days played to warm the dark halls, and tender words exchanged by firelight.
Years into the future when a sickly Gemini would sit bound to his bed looking at a wife chosen for him and a son born as frail as his father, he would always smile into his eyes and tell his son that what matters most in life, is that what time you had was well spent, and that you will know when it is because the moment it was fullfilled will keep you happy unto death, and he would die remembering a sad time, when their secret had been discovered and Serenity had been forbidden from ever stepping foot on the twilight kingdom...she never did again.
Every guardian was gathered from around the system to keep the princess safe, and Yttrialite had been locked into the depths of the Twilight palace, damning himself for what he was until his brother said.
" You don't even know what you are yet...after all this time. There is a silver love, that shines bright in the day...but you are the light in the darkness, in the midst of chaos your heart has the strength to shine true"
Gemini could never risk the light of the moon kingdom, he did what he could but his aid had come to an end, and it seemed all he did from the start was inspire a love that could never be.
Serenity would not cry nor frown, only smile and proclaim her love and faith, and neither would Yttrialite in his dungeon, only smile and close his eyes to see his love...and feel it radiate through his body stronger than the poison in his blood.
The Silver Crystal held as a charm in the queens hand would betray her without letting her know, as Serenity would give it command without even holding it, and thus the Twilight Snow would fall on the Moon Kingdom, startling even the Senshi as the flakes touched their cheeks and lulled them to sleep.
The Blood Crystal burned free the chains and burst open the locks as a burning ball of light, a burning star flew free from the darkness glowing brighter and brighter as it circled the moon and landed atop the moon palace.
Gemini braved the light, hiding in the shadows as he noticed all the guardians somehow asleep, and atop the moon palace peek out to see Yttrialite and Serenity embrace, the eyes of a Red eyed, Sable haired child of Chaos glistening with happiness, locked into the dark blue eyes of his beloved Lavender haired pure hearted moon princess Serenity. It could have been the enchanted snow, or the energy of the two crystals when combined so close together, whatever the reason time slowed that moment as his hand warmed her cheek, his chest warming her in the snow as their eyes closed, the image of one another forever locked inside their hearts as they shared a kiss of such beauty, it could only ever be true love.
