So, this girl has these four 'Rules of writing'. They're not BAD rules, but one rule is just WRONG if you ask me. I wanted to comment, but she's got comments friend-locked, and no, we're not friends. Anyway, said rule?
Don't sit there, planning it all out'
I have to ask; what's wrong with planning out your story? I do it. Here's how my process goes:
1. Idea
2. Typing out individual scenes
3. Bringing cohesion to said loose scenes. Delete if neccesary.
4. First complete draft
5. Proofreading said first completed draft for errors (Be they spelling and grammar mistakes, plotholes or getting facts wrong)
6. Type out the complete work.
7. Publish
I mean, I get what you're saying, and agree with most of your points, but this one just bugs me, since saying you don't need to plan things out just invites half-assed work. (Like some of the girl's work I saw.... *Cough*)
Also, only friends can comment? Invites brown nosing, if you ask me. If you want to succeed as a writer, you need every bit of concrit, not just on your writing but on your methods and not just from the people you 'Approve' of. This just reeks of cowardice.
