Back once again for the renegade master

Jun 03, 2008 12:23

For reasons I now forget, I just googled "renegade master" to find out who the artist behind this dance classic was, and discovered that not only was he (one Roger McKenzie, aka DJ Wildchild), born in Southampton, but died in 1995 at the age of just 24 from an undiagnosed heart condition. Blimey.

There's some pop trivia for you! As you were.

Had one. Done it. Went really well :-D
I'm taking a few days off before launching into my dissertation now. Oh, I might be in London next Thursday if you're around?

Streatham, eh! That's so close it'd be rude not to, really. Is it a friend's band or something?

Yeah, they're called Zhain. The singer is John Hart who used to play for Jazzmanix and SU Singers sometimes.

Alas I'm not coming any more, as I have a rehearsal for a play I'm in. But I recommend that gig anyway!

Ah ok. What play is it?

From their myspace: "ZHAIN have a residency [at the Bedford Park in Streatham] for the next 8 weeks where they will be building up there electrifying set to take to LA".

So you could come see them another week maybe?

Maybe yeah. I was planning on going to the London Library annual lecture that day too, but I guess that's out. I think it's every two weeks, the residency.

The play I'm in is The Hollow. It's an Agatha Christie murder mystery, and I'm Detective Sergeant Penny (the Inspector's sidekick...) It's June 23rd and 24th (Mon & Tue) in The Nuffield, if ya want to come?
