Heh, I don't post often on things outside that affect me.
Yesterday, Bo Schembechler, better known as the Head Coach for University of Michigan football from 1968 until 1989, passed away in a Detroit hospital at the age of 77.
He was an icon to anyone who followed UM football. He helped fan the fire of rivalry with Ohio State, a rivalry that has no rival, collegiate or professional. Woody Hayes, OSU coach whom Bo coached under for a few years, helped to instill the rivalry into his players. Its said that he would put his players in hotel rooms on the Ohio side of the state line the night before playing Michigan and would never fill his car's gas tank in 'that state to the north'.
The game today some say will be the most watched game of the year. Legions of Michigan alumni (and fans of the school) span the globe, from South Africa to Scotland and the Asia-Pacific rim. The game will be covered by Armed Forces Radio Network, allowing our service members to enjoy the game where ever they might be serving, from Afghanistan to Iraq, South Korea to a pub across a plaza from European Union Parliment in Brussels.
But Bo will not be listening. He will be missed, moreso than many people think.
