Alright, so I've started work on an inverse version of Plato's "The Republic." The premise is that I'm trying to figure out how to create the perfectly unjust state. There's a few things that are important to figure out in order to achieve this, so I intend to attempt using my LJ as a sort of discussion forum for the purpose of doing solid groundwork. Although I doubt anyone will care enough to even comment (I anticipate about three comments total, perhaps one seriously attempting to tackle the question), I might as well try.
So, first question is: What is evil? I desire an ideal form of pure, unadultered evil. What constitutes such a thing? The problem here is, most folks can point at single acts and call them evil, but does anyone really know what evil truly is? Can it be defined in terms that don't involve good in some way? This is critical, as it would be impossible to create a truly unjust state without a solid concept of what evil is. Let me hear your thoughts.
