Bremen '10

Jan 25, 2010 23:05

The first city trip in 2010 for Daniel and me, yay. :D We went to Bremen, up in the high North.

Mhm, breakfast. :D

In Bremen, our first sightseeing took us to the cathedral, at least it was heated. It was SO cold outside. O_O

This is Bremen's "Roland", a medieval statue symbolizing the city rights.

The inscription on the shield reads: „vryheit do ik ju openbar / d' karl vnd mēnich vorst vorwar / desser stede ghegheuen hat / des danket god' is mī radt“

The "Schütting", some sort of ancient center of commerce.

The state parliament (Bremen is its own city-state within Germany) with the Cathedral in the background.

After some sightseeing around the city centre, we took a boat down the river Weser. We arrived at the Weser Stadium. Unfortunately, on this day there was a big soccer game. Werder Bremen vs. Bayern München. Oh, dear, the masses.

We then went to the big Beck's Brewery, and took a tour of the interior. Pretty interesting.

With subsequent "free beer". My pal was in heaven. ;)

Outside the brewery.

It was already late, so we looked for a nice restaurant and found this one.

A pancake restaurant on the docks, a re-dressed sailing ship resembling a pirate ship inside. XD

The old city council of Bremen.

Before returning home, yesterday we visited the Schulschiff Deutschland, a full-rigged training ship, now a museum.

A really big ship.

Taking the helm!

This was a very enjoyable trip.
