This weekend, we painted the nursery. I am so freaking proud of it! I helped Chris on Saturday with the taping and the first coat. Thanks to the portable heater in my belly, I could open the windows in the 40 degree weather to have the ventilation I needed and work just fine. Chris, on the other hand, complained it was cold. After reminding him that he'd have to do this by himself if he wanted the windows closed, he stopped griping. However, when I woke up (at 3am) on Sunday, I was all swollen and having a difficult time breathing. I decided that I must have had an allergic reaction to the paint. It is latex based, and I have a minor allery to latex. I don't remember having such a reaction to the paint from the kitchen cabinets. Of course, I did all of that painting outside on the deck. Baby was moving around as violently as normal, so I didn't make a big deal about it. Chris did the second coat all by himself. He feels very manly now. :-)
So here's what the room looked like when we bought the condo. It was dated, but nice looking...for the 102 year old lady who lived here before us!
And now, we took the valence down, the bed and furniture had been removed and sold. We chose a green that's a little bit darker than what was on the accent wall. Our futon is currently in there now, but will be finding a new home soon. (Anyone in the Milwaukee area want a futon? It's originally my mother-in-law's but she's not sure she has the storage space to take it back. IF that's the case, then we'll need to find a home outside of the family for it.)
The crib won't be arriving until around Thanksgiving. My father is refinishing an old crib for me. A glider will be joining it at the same time. The rest of the baby things will have to wait. I don't want to go out shopping until after any showers I might have so that I know what I need to get, and what I can decide to live without.
Now the rest of the house is fair game for my nesting!!
