From Top to Bottom

I never thought I'd finish this sweater!  French Knots 2 asked me to teach  top-down sweater class for this "semester."  They gave me a pattern and the yarn, neither of which were selling well.  The hopes were that both sales would pick up when customers saw the finished product (for some really dumb reason, there's no picture with the pattern).  The deal is that I get to keep the sweater when all is said and done.  I cast on at Thanksgiving, but quickly set it aside, knitting only 4-6 rows at a time.  All that stockinette BORED me!  But Flora called Saturday afternoon and told me she wanted the finished sweater in the shop on Monday.  AAARRRGGGHHH!!!  I still had the body to finish, both sleeves to do and the neck to pick up.  So after a late late night on Saturday and knitting all day today, I am left with VERY SORE hands.  But it is finished!

Notes:
This pattern is a great jumping place for a sweater.  Because there was no picture or schematics, I knit blindly for awhile.  The pattern asks for a rolled hemline, cuffs, and neck.  Now, no woman would ever want to wear a rolled hemline at their waist because it brings attention to what is most often our widest point.  So I chose to do a garter stitch band for the hem and matched it up on the sleeves.  For the neck, I did a 4x3 rib because I thought a rolled neck would look ridiculous.  Also, the armpits are pretty deep which I'm not used to with my store bought sweaters, giving it more of a fit of a sweatshirt.  But I am definitely sold on top-down sweaters!

Loki wanted in on the photo shoot and jumped into my arms as the camera went off.
