finally home.

puerto rico was lots of fun. we departed 45 minutes late beacuse there wasnt enough oil in the engines and then then they couldnt get the cap off the engines to fill them, which was comforting. we arrived with blue skies and warm weather, wearing our new york clothing. we then saw hertz car rental, bargain car rental, and a variety of other high quality car rentals which each provided a bus to the rental place. we waited around for a good half hour in the heat until we asked someone where our quality/advantage car rental service was. it was the little silver toyota pulling away from the curb. the jolly puerto rican man then informed us that it would make more sense for my dad to go to the car rental place and then copme back to pick us up because the transport car was so small and we had so much luggage. (2 suitcases, 3 duffel bags, 1 laptop, 2 purses, and one bookbag) father dearest was gone for about an hour when we started to get worried. me and my mom were lying down when joe stood up and shouted "theres daddy, he just drove away!" my mom then proceeded to run dowen the middle of the busy airport road screaming and waving her arms, only to discover that it wasn't in fact my father. finally, good old joey p showed up in a sony aerio, or as we affectionatly labeled it, the tin can. it turns out there was an all out war at the car rental place, literally, and my dad just escaped with a car. we then proceeded to fly down the chaotic puerto rican highways, with many a crazed driver. none of us know any spanish besides joe's characteristic "donde est la banyo" (sp?), and that can only get you so far. finally, on the distant horizon we saw the exit for levittown, and we got off. sitting in a burger king, eating lunch, we couldnt help but feel at home. we then left the burger king in search of the hotel attempting to navigate the spanish road signs and merely guessing at their meanings. we finally got to the hotel after many a residential detour, only to discover that our travel agent had booked us at the wrong hotel! after sending my very hysterical mother to the bathroom, our travel agent managed to get us a room, with one king bed. ah, the joys of pull-out sofa beds! from then on, the vacation went rather peacefully, with the highlights being the game room, ping-pong table, games of pool volleyball and visiting kelly and gabriella. the rain-soaked trip to old san juan (alas we missed juliets brief stay there). also, the horseback ride was fun, besides my brother's horse practically throwing him off. the food however, was amazing. i ate way too much, but thatsok, because it was worth it. overall i had a really good time, and we just laughed the whole time and made fun of our problems.

its good to be home, i missed everyone so much, but i am not looking forward to the catching up that i must do.
